“Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed.”
? Mahatma Gandhi
Just as we were all coming to terms with Government scams which came one after other just like Bollywood releases IPL (Indian Premier League) also had its share of darker side to offer. Everyday evening it gave enough masala for most of the people on television with large mouth and big voice to throw their sample mind into the ocean of words. Alas, we missed one big point irrespective of topic of discussion, the human greed.
We allow simple things in life to grow into an institution. As someone said sickness becomes illness and illness into an industry, also sports into an institution and institution into an industry. Today, in every growth story there is an opportunity for someone to fiddle with and make an opportunity to make tones of money. Then is growth bad for the society is the question. How do we really differentiate between organic growth and cannibalizing growth? Its always too late before we understand and draw line by then much of the water would have flown down the drain and would have taken a monstrous figure which anyone would fear to go near.
Ok… we all have realized it is greed which has turned activities of the society to grow like monster and to develop beneficiaries enroot. The scams have become such a common phenomenon these days people casually discuss while sipping tea at a tea stall or eating quick breakfast / lunch at darshini. The hot discussion melts down as quickly as the heat of the food or the drink consumed by the person at the stall as through we are ready and getting prepared to hear one more or new scandal next day.
The more we think the most disturbed we are since we are still concerned about this world and have some ethics to follow in life. But how do I get insulated from all these. The only choice is selective listening and hearing. Even for our own life how much we need to grow is tough to decide. Here is an interesting quote “Growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of the cancer cell.” ? Edward Abbey (The Journey Home: Some Words in Defense of the American West) . But do we really take a lesson out of these is a question
Yoga and Ayurvedic lifestyle helps people to overcome ones greed and lead a simple and mindful life. The calmness which is attained through Yoga and the satvik lifestyle through Ayurveda provides an immense insulation from the disturbing factors of the world. We can remain calm and focused on our work and keep away from frustrations. Various therapies using Ayurvedic principles also help soothe our nerve keeping us calm. Today staying calm is the toughest challenge due to innumerable distractions at home through TV, at office due to peers and work pressure, on road due to bad traffic manners and everyone rushing to cut you off on the road.
We can always pamper ourselves by buying the best branded clothes, branded shoes with latest models of phones, Laptops or tablets whatsoever the happiness of which remains for a very short period but buying us a proper Ayurvedic Abhyanga under the supervision of a Doctor or Dharas (drip treatment) helps in reliving great amount of stress and baggage. It is fine to pamper yourself and indulge in a luxurious self care program. Taking time off responsibilities to take a relaxation therapy might not occur natural to everyone, but it is always better to take one before it is too late.
